Increase in IT security incidents in Germany: analysis of over 150 incidents in the first half of 2024 – estimated number of unreported incidents in this period significantly higher
Butzbach, September 5, 2024 – RIEDEL Networks, provider of tailormade IT security and network services, will be demonstrating at Europe’s leading trade fair for IT security how medium-sized companies in particular can effectively protect themselves against cyber threats. The number of IT security incidents in Germany continues to rise rapidly. In a recent report, RIEDEL Networks recorded over 150 IT security incidents at German companies in the first half of 2024 alone and analyzed the resulting areas of damage. However, experts suspect that the actual number of incidents is significantly higher, as many security incidents remain undetected or do not come to public attention. The threat situation in the area of cyber security is becoming more acute and highlights the need for companies to protect themselves comprehensively against cyber attacks. Key findings of the report
- Ransomware dominates with 45% of all analyzed security incidents.
- Extortionists account for 40% of attackers, which illustrates the strong financial motivation behind many cyber attacks.
- State-sponsored espionage accounts for a significant 25% of incidents, highlighting the growing role of cyber operations in an international context.
In light of these developments, RIEDEL Networks is inviting visitors to it-sa Expo&Congress 2024 to discuss the cyber risks arising from the report ‘s security incidents, among other things, and to find out about comprehensive IT security solutions. Visitors to the stand will experience how hackers use simple means to penetrate an unprotected network and gain valuable insights into the vulnerabilities of common IT infrastructures. In return, the company will present its [R .E.D.] security solutions that are specifically designed to effectively fend off a wide range of attacks and reliably protect corporate networks. “At a time when cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and numerous, it is crucial that companies constantly improve their defense mechanisms. The it-sa Expo&Congress from October 22 to 24 offers the perfect opportunity to find out about the latest security solutions and learn more about defense strategies,” explains Michael Martens, CEO at RIEDEL Networks.
