RIEDEL Networks strengthens backbone with new point of presence in Düsseldorf

Butzbach, January 09, 2025 – RIEDEL Networks, provider of tailormade IT security and network services, is expanding its network by setting up a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Düsseldorf. As a strategically important hub in the German telecommunications network, it ensures optimal connectivity to national and international networks. The strategic location of the new PoP in the immediate vicinity of the RIEDEL Networks Media House in Cologne, where video productions such as the half-time shows for the UEFA Champions League are produced, creates ideal conditions for remote productions that rely on a high-performance, redundant network architecture between Cologne, Düsseldorf and Wuppertal.

“Thanks to the expansion of our backbone with the new PoP in Düsseldorf, we are creating an even more stable and powerful infrastructure for remote productions at RIEDEL Networks Media House,” explains [Zitatgeber]. “This step allows us to optimally serve the growing requirements in the area of remote production and offer our customers robust connectivity. At the same time, we are strengthening our entire infrastructure, increasing redundancy and opening up new peering opportunities for the exchange of local data traffic.” RIEDEL Networks has partnered with Digital Realty, the world’s largest networked data center platform, to implement and build the new Point of Presence in Düsseldorf, continuing a successful partnership that has been in place for over ten years. To ensure network stability and redundancy, the PoP was designed in such a way that it could be integrated into the existing backbone network via at least two redundant connection paths – between Düsseldorf and Frankfurt and between Düsseldorf and Wuppertal. It had to meet further requirements such as a redundant power supply and guaranteed availability of at least 99.9 percent around the clock. In addition, access to cloud partners such as Google and Amazon as well as existing connections to other RIEDEL Networks carrier partners was required to ensure the smooth transmission of data traffic. RIEDEL Networks’ private IP backbone comprises over 40 network nodes and connects more than 4,500 customer sites in over 75 countries and 1,400 cities. Thanks to a network of over 350 local partners, RIEDEL Networks provides reliable connectivity even in the most remote locations. With a Network Operations Center (NOC) staffed around the clock, customers worldwide are guaranteed continuous network monitoring and maximum reliability.
